I guess sewing can go here too.
I made my a cloth pad! Some of you might think it's nuts. lol. That's ok. Took me a while to warm up to the idea too.
I'm trying it for the first time and it's a tiny bit bulker that sposie pads, I think, but at least they don't scratch/stick to your butt! And they're not stiff like sposies are at first. I like it.

Good job Susy! I am just not a pad wearing type of person. They make me feel like I am sitting in a dirty diaper or something. I am more of a tampon person, but if I weren't, I would totally use those mama pads. I think it is great, and it is a much better alternative to all the junk in the pads you buy!

Thanks
I'm more of a tampon girl too. But I hate having to keep buying them every month!

I know what you mean. As stupid as it sounds, I have particular brands and types that I like. My husband bought me these SUPER sucky ones during this AF and they were horrific.

Yea I always get tampax. I'm scared to go knock-off brand in case they leak and I'm stuck with a whole box of them and nothing else.
You could try the diva cup. I have one. But it leaks on my heavy days unless I alternate, tampon, cup.
I think I'll use the pads on my heavy days and the cup on the lighter days.

Ok now my mind's going a mile a minute. I searched cloth tampons on etsy and only 2 sellers came up. Both the crochet style. I wonder if I could sell some made of flannel... the roll up kind.
Ha! If you girls didn't think I was crazy before, I bet you do now!
This is me right now.

Ok I made some cloth tampons! I haven't tried these bigger ones since AF is gone now, but I made some small ones (same length but half the width, didn't need to be folded over) and they actually worked awesome. If I make some to sell I'll add a string. But I didn't find it necessary myself.

Cool! How are you going to wash them, by themselves?

There wouldn't be enough to do it's own load.
I rinse them out really good and then just let them dry, and I'll probably wash them with the diapers because I'm sure Country Save has fewer additives than my homemade detergent I use for our clothes.

I did some sewing today. I was thrilled to find that if I put william in his high chair he'll happily watch my noisy machine go. For at least a few mins!
I made this shirt out of one of dh's old beaters.

Re: I guess sewing can go here too.
Ok I'm so excited. I made these pads out of cotton (but it's thick like flannel) and fleece. Seriously the fleece works amazing as a moisture barrier. I have not had a single leak, even with my heavy and sudden miscarriage bleeding.
Some of the stitching is pretty horrid on this one. I had a pic of a better one but I can't seem to find it. But oh well. THey go on your butt. Who cares what they look like?

That is cool. Maybe I will make some (I only use them when my va-jay-jay gets sore from tampons or if I am not bleeding heavy enough for tampons). I hate buying pads, so a reusable one would be awesome.

yeah they're awesome. Even if you just have a couple so you don't have to buy so many sposie pads.

Re: I guess sewing can go here too.
I really thought they would be bulky and uncomfortable. Especially if you need fleece or something for the moisture barrier. Fleece tends to be thick. But it's not! It's great. As long as you don't make the wings too long, so they wrap around fairly tightly and lay flat, they're perfect.

Yeah mine's an ugly print but I got the fabric super cheap at the thrift store. 4 bucks for like a queen size sheet.
